Excerpt from the Introduction

This particular project is one that I avoided for a long time. (Although, given that Albcell is relatively young – the first book was published in 2022 – I think it would have been premature anyway…)

In the early years of Albcell, my main goal was to demonstrate the potential of these puzzles to the largest audience, so I adopted a ‘friendlier’ tone. This book, by contrast, is a specialist one: designed to appeal to a more expert audience – those puzzle solvers with what we might call a ‘higher IQ.’ I usually end up using most of my designs in my other Albcell books, but I pulled out all the stops for this volume, which is designed for the more dedicated Albceller who likes a challenge!

When I was naming the book, however, I wanted to avoid overused adjectives like ‘nasty’, ‘severe’, ‘impossible’ or ‘uncompromising,’ which I believe are rather subjective, and more suited to marketing. So High IQ Albcell.d simply states the obvious: this book is for those smart people who like difficult subjects, who like tricky puzzles, and who like to rise to the occasion.

For those people, I believe that this collection of puzzles can be another tool among many that help them to sustain and preserve a particular state of mind – and occasionally nourish it too. (So perhaps what the book really offers is, if not your daily bread, then at least your daily dessert…)
